I recently went out to devils punchbowl and had some questions.... 1) Is there a guidebook for the area? If not, which books have the best info? 2) I looked at the info on the site but it's hard to tell where in the area the various walls are located--can anyone give me some visuals or better info? 3) Are any of the walls in that area south facing???? Thanks ahead of time everyone!

Are you talking about the bowls up thre between Santa Paula and Ojai? As far as I know there is no real guide to the place - a lot of the rock (high stuff) is on ranch owned land until you get up into the State land. There are some trails, but nothing of note on them.

Dp Proper (mostly trad though some sport) faces south, but it is in a ddep canyon and stay pretty chilly. The sport area (north of parking) all developed walls pretty much face East, due to the faulting. The warmest wall, which I presume is what you arelooking for, would be the Gorilla Face morning/Early afternoon since it does get sun. Late afternoon though it will get chilly fast. The area is featured in Mayr's Sport Climbing Guide. I have heard, though not seen for myself, that some new rouets went up (there is a bolting ban though so hush hush), not sure where though. Good luck! I think DP has some sweet climbing
