I am looking at buying a new harness and would appriciate your opinion on the Black Diamond Mentor II AL versus the Petzl Corax. Unfortunately I can't fing a gear comparison site but am looking for a harness that will cater for Sports, Trad, Multi-Pitch, Hanging Belay, Adjustable Legs and 4 Gear Loops.

Thanks 4 your opinion!

As far as gear review sites, try http://www.outdoorreview.com. As far as the harnesses go, I own a Corax and love it, but I am getting my girlfriend a Mentor2 AL because she seems to favor the BD harnesses. You can't go wrong with either one I wouldn't think, but in the end, it's going to be which ever one feels the best to you.

Thanx for the information JDean. We have no climbing shops within 600 miles of where I live and as a result I equip myself through mail order and cannot fit equipment. One question - does the Corex restrict you climbing in anyway? If you ever venture to South Africa feel free to drop us a mail - we have some great crags. Currently updating the East London sub-section. View it in a couple of days, we are still under construstion.

I have a mentor 2 Al. It is descent if it fits. I bought it and its way too big, does anyone want to buy it(used once, no falls) size xsmall. anyway sorry. Uhh, the leg loops can be adjusted about six inches. Its kinda inconvenient around the waist because the waist padding part detaches from itsself, but the actual holding part stays on. another thing is ive noticed the back part of the waist is like 4 inches thick so you can kiss a ground anchor using a biner good bye. but over all I recomend talk to someone who knows what they are talkin about

Camelman,
the Corax doesn't bother me at all while I am climbing. It is really comfortable on me. My suggestion is once you decide on a model, order it from a place that has a good return policy. I think REI gives you 30 days. Hope this helps.

     #1, it was a 5.7

#2, I gently sat in it when I got to the top and rapelled the whole 25 feet down. I didn't even sweat on it.

Hiya Camel, a fellow South African I c!

The corax is a brilliant harness, does not restrict movement at all, and is comfortable.
