I just wanted to clear some things up about what I have read here at RC.com:
1) I was the 3rd solo ascentist of The Sea of Dreams, not the 2nd. Xaver Bongard and Brad Jared were 1st and 2nd.
2) Chongo did not teach me how to solo at the base of the North American Wall. Yes, that was my first big wall route, but I practiced on one and two pitch routes before I started the climb. Chongo did, however, teach me how to haul with the mechanical advatage, 2:1 pulley system.
3) Nick did not do "all" of the traversing to fix a rope on El Cap to have that keg party. He jugged a line that was left there and did a pendulmn to a belay underneath the Black Dihedral. I actually climbed an unknown (it might have been Steve Gerbadine and Scott Stowe's 1999 route "Every Man for Himself") crack for about 80 feet. We got to a point were it would be very difficult and time consuming to reach each other. I told Nick to tie a rope bag to the end of the rope and let the wind blow it to me. The plan worked great and I was able to reach the rope first time, which was the key for me and my brother Gabe, to join one of the most classic parties in El Cap history.
