Hmm...not really too tough a call. My latest accomplishment is finally getting comfortable enough on rope to try things instead of just giving up. Sure it means that I hang dog a lot more, but I'm improving again, and thats huge. I worked a hard for me route at the gym. I got really stuck at the crux, but I worked through it instead of getting frustrated and getting lowered off and not really learning anything.

on sunday i was thrilled because i did a fairly tricky climb with only one fall.

this was my second time on the route; the first time was a couple weeks ago and it took me FOREVER to climb it. i found two moves that i had to dyno for and kept missing.

this time i felt so fluid! my technique was bursting as i gently smeared and got the move statically. i was so proud :P

Last Wednesday I finally did my first multi pitch. And same day I also made it to the top of a climb...(not to hard)... but to the top of something I've been trying to climb up for almost a year. Very good feeling..., but now I have to make new goals.

well, there was this 11 in the gym that i had been working on for over a month---could get everything except this one move, where you have this balancy-pinch move to get to next solid hold. I had sometimes managed it w/ a super-dyno (rarely worked but mostly didn't), using the arete or trying to match on the pinch...basically, i hate pinching and b/c i broke my thumb (and have continued to reinjure it), so i resist any kind of pinch move w/ the right hand. After much coaching from friends and over-analyzing the move, last week i decided to try it again, not really expecting to get it (mentally, i'd totally given up on getting the move) and without much work, i just got it. It totally made my week!

I got my hardest redpoint ever a few weeks ago and on the same day I drummed up the courage to try to onsight something at my limit. I fell off it but I was proud of myself for trying because I'm still petrified of falling, even on sport routes!

This may sound totally dumb, but my latest accomplishment was just getting to the first bolt on this one climb that is really far above my redpoint level. I think I linked five or six moves in a row before falling. Anyhow, this route is going to be a long, hard redpoint for me. One bolt down, five to go.

I was practicing aid climbing on a boulder by my house and didn't freak out when a nut shifted and almost blew.

I did this 11a in the Black Corridor the 3rd go. The big thing was that this is way below my onsight grade, but I managed not to get upset with myself when I didn't onsight it. Then I managed to not let it go mental when I didn't get it the 2nd time. The 3rd go, I z-clipped, fixed it, and still redpointed the darned thing!!!!

OK, I outclimbed all the younger (by 20 years) guys (as in male) in my lead class...onsited a 5.10 (lead). And I am doing heaps more bouldering...even going for some of those last throws!

OK, just last week I climbed two 5.10c at J-tree. What an awesome climbing mecca.

And...I went live on my system that I have been implementing for the last 1.5 years, got my photo in Forbes magazine, got selected by trading spaces...the stuff keeps happening!

Did my first trad lead and first lead fall.

Kick booty! I'm just now breaking into some 5.11s myself and am usually blown away when I can do them. I assume this Black Corridor is a sport route? If you are doing 5.11 cracks, then I...well...

Ahhhummm ahhhummm (bowing my balding head down low)

Say crazylikeafawkes,

Tell me about your Potrero Chico onsights, redpoints, or notable frigs! I sadly blew several onsights on Black Cat Bone, notably the big roof and the next pitch. The big diehedral was mostly unsulied, so I'll give myself 95% onsight. Heh, heh. I did finally manage to follow that stupid 5.11 third pitch on Estrellita, though. Man, that is a pain! Pangea shut me down.

Congrats, y'all.

Well for me, my latest accomplishment was leading Lazy Days (sp?) in Joshua Tree. Not only that, but leading a climb each day I was there during my last visit. Leading is new to me, and with each effort it becomes more of a treat. Need I say that I LOVE climbing?!

(signed, the user formerly known as kcrag... (currently experiencing log-in technical difficulties)).

cheers, -k.

I had a lot of firsts last weekend up at Devils Lake, Wisconsin!!! It was the perfect weekend for my first time TR climbing outside, first time bouldering outside, and first time kayaking!!! I love it all and can't wait to get out again. I need another fix - three days just wasn't enough! :D

I got second place in my age group at the PBC!!!! Way exciting. Last year I came in 10th, so that's quite the improvement! It was a great time. I hope I ran into some of you ladies out there. I was the one pointing out the good problems. I got one gal on a 60 pointer that she sent when she was working a 40 pointer that was frustrating her. It was cool.

I went to the red this weekend and worked on leading this route (Seek the truth) that was rediculously overhung (not my style), and scary (with groundfall potential if you blew the first, second, third, and possibly even the fourth clip). I didn't finish the climb, but it still felt like an accomplishment because I took five or six lead falls but kept getting back on and whipping again! Now if I could just make the clip rather than jumping off, I might get somewhere!

this weekend i went climbing with my partner and he rapped down to the wrong route... (well it wasn't even a set route...)

i got to be the voice of reason and the good belayer as he worked through a very freaky personal experience.

i didn't end up climbing... but it meant alot to me and i got to see our partnership strengthen a little bit more. i was proud to see that i didn't panic or freak out or anything like that. and you never know how you're going to react in a situation like that until you're faced with it...

Crazy, that is so the truth.

My latest accomplishment? I sat in the ER with my long term boyfriend, and didn't freak out, even when they took him to get a CT and told me they couldn't tell me anything until they got the results from the CT.

He's fine though, and out of the hospital, so its all good.

Long story how we ended up there, but I'm just proud that I can be a tough girl when I need to be.

did my first 10a lead with no falls in the Black Corridor.

To answer the person who was asking if it is sport. Yes, it is in Red Rock Canyon.

Hey! I've been way stoked! I TRed my first .12 about a month ago, and I've been flashing .11s! My leading has been totally clicking for me. I used to get all nervous and worked up, and now .11 is just great. I feel mellow and collected, focused and controled. Can't wait to try leading a .12! I love climbing!!!

I jumped in with a group of girls bouldering at the gym who usually intimidate the heck out of me. Instead of feeling uncomfortable trying new routes in front of them, I took a lot of inspiration from them and climbed amazingly well! (Even better than about half of them!!!)
