I don't know if it's like this for most people, but I love the competition atmosphere. Everyone's so friendly, and most other climbers are about as helpful to their competition as they can be without cheating. All of that bull about not caring about winning or losing actually comes into play here. Competitions are both the most and least stressful times for me, but it's great. It's not about the competition so much as getting into the climbing community.

Although there is a large part of me that doesn't care how well I do, there is one part that REALLY doesn't want to lose.

It's a bittersweet relationship.

Of course, nobody competes to lose, but when I play other games/ sports competitively, losing sucks; whereas at a climbing competition, losing sucks way less. Win or lose, I still had the chance to climb with some new people, try out new areas and styles of route setting, and I can test my skilz.

When I climb in a comp, it is so much fun. I meet men and woman of all different ages who all love the same thing I do. They support me,joke with me, and we basically have a fun time. Also I get lots of beta and tips (without cheating),and make new friends. Plus, there is always a raffel at the end of the comps I go to, and the atmosphere is fun and enjoyable.
