hi guys. how long should the sling of a quickdraw be? does the length has a effect on the overall weight of the rack?

it's not so much weight you should be worried about. think about it: the longer the sling, the further the fall. may be a good idea to use a short sling on the the first clip so you don't deck, eh? then comes trad. for instance, placement of gear within a crack. put a short sling on there, the rope has to go into the crack a bit, which is not good. a longer sling, and the rope follows a more even line. there are other pros/cons but that's my little 2 cents worth....

you can alway get a longer sling and then double, triple....... it back. Then if you ever need a longer one you just let it out to the length you need.
