Those puppies are study suckers. I wouldn't see them being damaged past a knick or a scrape. Now, if that had been from 800 feet, or 8,000, that would be a different story.

I doubt anything would happen to them from that height, but ive heard about a test you might be able to use. I think this is how it works. all you need is liquid Tide(the laundry stuff) and a black light. soak the biner in the Tide and then hold it under the black light. Supposedly if there are any small fractures you will be able to see them. ~VP

Collective wisdom here: http://www.tradgirl.com/climbing_faq/safety.htm#usedgear Chris Harmston is an authority on this subject as he has examined and broken hundreds of pieces of gear. He knows his stuff. If you are truly interested, do a search for Chris Harmston on http://groups.google.com

whoistheman- You da man. I love it when somebody does a little research before replying to a thread. Rather than just spewing irrelevant information and urban legends. It is my opinion that as long as the equipment shows no visible signs of severe damage it is ok to use. I have bought alot of used gear in the past and I always replace the webbing but biners/stoppers/cams will last longer than you probably will. I remember another thread on this same subject awhile back. It had a lot of good infomation in it about used/dropped gear.
