My father was a climbing ranger in the Tetons in the 50's. He climbed extensively with Willi Unsoeld, John Gill, Bill Cropper, John Dietschy, Leigh and Irene Ortenburger, Pete Sinclair and others in that period. He has hundreds of photos of these climbs including a spectacular one of Willi Unsoeld on a Tyrolean traverse. Does anyone think there would be a market in the climbing community for a book published with these photos and perhaps stories from this "Golden Age of Climbing" or am I grasping at straws.
P.S. My dad will be 70 in January and he still climbs and mountain bikes!

Wow; I can beleive he still climbs but mountain bikes! I do both and hope to follow in your fathers footsteps, but not certain about the bike. I've had some nasty days on the bike. Anyway the book. Nice idea. I would certainly look at one borrow one from a library but don't know about buying one. I would like to see a video of a 70 YO mountain biking tho' Later Charlie

Dude; don't do a book; get a camera and make a film abt these old coots, enter it in the Banff festival. Also, throw in the yosemite oldguys too. they're not gonna be around much longer

A book collecting pictures and stories from these people, about these times, would be a tremendous addition to the record of American climbing. I hope you pursue the idea. Please preserve as much as you can in the meantime. Consider getting audio and video records of these folks and their stories now, while you can, too.

Thanks for the feedback. If anybody knows the whereabouts of the climbers, listed along with my dad, at the bottom of page 16 in the third edition to the Teton Climbing guide, let me know how I can get ahold of them. What a great reunion that would be! I know some of them have passed away. May they rest in peace.
