My buddy ran into these guys at the comp and they were asking questions about what he thought he wants to see in a gym. Matt felt they were kind of out of touch with what would drive business up their way (based on their line of questioning). Bottom line for me -- location and price. They can have the greatest, most spiffy, "members privileges" crap they want, but if it's not close and it's not reasonably priced I'll never step foot in the place. Ed

Last night at ClimbMax I saw a flyer for "ClimbMax II" on the bulletin board. The features looked very similar to what's listed on that web site so it might be the same thing. Would be nice to finally have a facility that has equal quality in bouldering and roped climbing. I'll ask Mike C. about it next time I'm in. eric

There is 2 seperate gyms opening. The azontherocks is being opened by 5 lawyers. I just wonder how much they will be charging to climb.

In reply to: In reply to: 5 lawyers? 2 more gyms? how many do we need? which, lawyers or gyms? Curt  Nice one, Curt. I don't think any of them are going under Maurice, me_lad, 8) but there is a very high demand for lead walls and less crowded climbing times, and there isin't a gym in Phoenix that can provide that right now. I'd join whatever gym has lead walls at this point. Not having to fight off birthday parties would be a bonus too....

Its in Scottsdale on Bell Road east of the 101. Sounds pricey! Sounds like its gonna make all the other gyms pretty ghetto. Is Climbmax gonna remain open? I wonder if they are going to have a Starbucks in it too. It sounds like its gonna be nice but I can just imagine all the rich snobs that are gonna be there. I can hear it now. "Hey Buffy! Fetch Biff a latte while I flash this 5.12!" Yea!
