I'll answer your question for you and maybe it will stop this thread. I assume you mean for tying in to your harness? If so, I think you mean a rewoven bowline, not a double bowline. A double bowline is generally used for the middle person to tie into a three-person rope. A rewoven figure 8 or a rewoven bowline are both excellent knots for tying in if they're done right. Just remember to tie off the loose end with a square knot. I personally like the rewoven bowline because if one bowline comes untied the second bowline still holds. Hope this helps.

Use the figure 8 to tie into your harness. In my opinion it's better.

Treyr,
Get a copy of Mountaineering-The Freedom of the Hills. It is a wealth of knowledge for everyone from the beginner to the advanced. It shows several different types of knots. As you can see, different strokes for different folk-the previous poster bigwallin, likes the figure 8, which I use for toproping but on more serious stuff I just like the rewoven bowline, he likes the figure 8 all the time. Just use what you are most competent and comfortable with.

The rewoven bowline doesnt lock up when u fall hard like the figure 8. But it's easyer to tie wrong. I use the figure 8 for easy leading and toproping, but for hard leads when i fall alot i use the rewoven bowline.

I think the rewoven bowline is a very good knot but there are some compelling reasons for using the figure eight.
Link to this thread for the whole bun fight.

  Look,
use nothing else but the figure 8.
Its the most fool proof tie in knot there is,
and is also the safest, and most widely used
tie in knot on the planet.
I mean, if some guy who's been climbing for
a million years prefurs the bowline, thats
great. But due to the fact that its also
easier to tie it incorrectly, well......
I think you get my meaning.
