Bradman's career average of 99.94 certainly stands (well and truly) alone, however I don't know if I would want to be him. I hear he didn't boulder that hard.

Me ? I'd take Gullich and try and avoid the early and tragic demise. Great life, climbed when climbing was new and shiny, had 4 grade advances (world's first 5:13d, 5:14a, 5:14b and 5:14d), got to travel the world bringing climbing to cultures who hadn't seen it before, did some bold and free big wall routes in remote areas and some other pretty impressive solos. Had a good looking wife and on top of all this, he was apparently a great guy. Everybody liked him. It was a huge loss when he died.

I would be your evil clone. Well, on and off when the brain exchanger was working. Otherwise, me.

One athlete....it's hard to choose. Here are a few with admirable qualities:

Peter Croft : Besides a big sack, the gentleman seems to really want to pursue and experience the "Freedom of the Hills" everyone talks about.

Hidataka Suzuki : Still a dirtbag and climbing hard in his 40s.

John Gill : Not so much for his prodigious climbing skill as for his creativity and intellect.

Lance Armstrong : What drive! If Kobe Bryant had his drive, he'd be scoring 50 points a game. Every game.

Mikhail Barisnikov : OK, so he's not an athlete. I submit he is. Strength and beauty of movement.

Lin Hill : El Cap aside, she's a cool person.

Anyone who pursues their sport purely for the love of it.

Good reply Traddad.

I would have to go with Alex Rodriguez.
That way I could retire and not be phisically beat-up. and I would have the funding to climb whenever and wherever I wanted! 8) 8)

Another fun question would be, What would some of the top level athletes be if they were climbers?
For example, I see Cal Ripken as a Alpine climber. Not necessarily a flashy climber but having a lot of endurance...

nevermind. :? :?

How 'bout Craig Kelly?

He got to help develop a new sport and more or less rule it during it's formative years. That's pretty cool.

But before I really thought too much about it, I was also thinking Tiger Woods. Surprised that there hasn't been mention of Micheal Jordan

Dale Earnhardt Jr? That's kind of debatable. That would assume that race car drivers are athletes. I know that I don't get much of a work out driving to school in the morning. Any thoughts on this?

I feel that racecar drivers are athletes (duh). They have to undergo extensive physical fitness training to be able to sit in their 150 degree car for 4hours. And the mental ability, to focus for that long at those speeds. Someone once said "They drive closer together than we dare to park." That takes some serious balls.

My .02c on the issue.

Another surfer vote, but I can't remember his name. That sick big-wave surfer married to Gabriel Reece. You know the one on the Nat. Geographic cover a few years back that covered the breaks at Jaws. Sweet life, sweet wife.

surfer's name is ken bradshaw...

check out the picture at http://www.kenbradshaw.com/order2

talk about a sick wave

Actually, Gabrielle Reece is married to Laird Hamilton.

And that is one sick wave.

I'd love to be Tony Hawk. The stuff he does blows my mind. Plus, I wanna be able to fly like him.

Here's my new theme song from MIRV. It's all about being cool. Check it out Dingus. They are from San Diego. You can listen to the song, too.
