Autoblock variations?

I really like the autoblock as a rappell back-up as opposed to a prusik. Seems pretty bomber. Gonna spend some time practicing with that this week. Question is can you do the same thing or a variation using webbing or sewn runners as opposed to cord? A variation on a Bachman that still has the properties of strength, release and ease of use? Post a link to a thread if you have one.

Thanks.

You can do the autoblock with webbing (so I'd imagine sewn runner would be okay, too) as well.

Sewn runners work well if you have nothing else.

Sewn runners work so-so. Most sewn runners are spectra and are more slippery than straight nylon. They will also melt easier if they do slip.
So I would either carry a sewn 100% nylon runner, or carry a tied nylon runner. It's not a bad idea to have a tied runner or two on your harness in case you went to back up a rap station.
