I'm currently living in Portland, OR, my boyfriend is in southern Utah, and he's looking at graduate schools. UT Austin has a great program in his field, but I have no idea what the climbing situation is out there. Can anyone offer thoughts/suggestions/ideas? I really appreciate the help.

Check the climbing database on this site. Tons of short limestone sport routes and bouldering to be had in and around Austin. Enchanted Rock is about an hour or so west of Austin and has good granite trad, sport, and bouldering. You're also only about 4 or 5 hours from Potrero Chico down in Mexico...
