i have ridiculously sweaty palms. before climbing, i have to chalk my hands full but once i get halfway thru a climb, the chalk actually "melts" with the sweat and i have to dip into the chalk bag again. fine, if it's an easy route. but when im attempting the difficult ones, good rest holds don't come often. more often than not, i slip off the holds because my fingers become too slippery. i find my sweaty hands giving me a very distinct disadvantage at climbing, regardless of how much chalk i use. are there any two ways about this problem? // arrowhead //

If you get really desperate....Talk to your doctor. There are medical treatments available. One of these, is a regimen of shock treatments. You put your hands in a tray of water, and very light shocks are repeatedly administered. After the series of treatments, (a couple of weeks, or a couple of months, if I remember correctly) the amount of sweat that your palms produce is greatly reduced.

If you dont mind the smell, try covering your palms in Deoderent with Anti-Perspernt. I Belive metolius Super-Chalk also has Anti-Perspernt in it, so you could give either one a try.

Look into a chalk called Contact Hybrid Chalk it has an added silicate (like those little packets of things that say "do not eat this" in beef jerkey) It not only drys your hands, but keeps them from sweating. I live by the stuff. Although it's very[/b fine (think flour, or powdered sugar) so I like to mix it with just regular cheap gymnastic chalk. Hmm, I used food metaphorically three times. Must be time for dinner

thanks for the words, guys. i'll really look into the solutions another option i had in mind was to use gym/bike gloves. i've used it before; they do make climbing slightly easier. but i notice that nobody uses it for climbing; and i stick out like a sore thumb in the climbing gym // arrowhead //
