Yes they do beanny, I have a hangboard and I can say that they actually do work. You will want to find a generalized training program, but it does work. If I'm too busy to take the time to do a hangboard workout. I will hang on a door jamb for the duration of one song. Put a song on the cd player that you like, and try to stay on the door jamb the whole time. First start off with some short punk syle songs, then go to a mid range 5:00 or so minute song. After you get these done go for something long, I listen to anything off of Tools Ænima and some of the stuff off of Salival. Most songs on those albums clock in around 10:00 minutes, with "Pushit-live" clocking in around 13:00 minutes its a great goal to go for. After that, then listen to some very involved trance (isn't that an oxymoron ) and some electronica. Find good songs that flow into each other...One of my favorites is "Sandstorm" from Darude...it flows in to most other songs well. I've been known to do this on trips with my parents while we are staying in hotel rooms as well.

Deadhangs are the most efficient workout to setrengten your fingers. Check the Finger back/arms strengh article at the articles section.

Hanging from a fixed spot with no foot support. Much like a pullup without the pull...or the up for that matter. Just hanging from holds. Much harder to describe than i thought....

Just get a 2x4, plain down the top for a jug, then drill some fingure pockets in it.

So if deadhangs are like a pull up with out the pull up, wouldnt it just work better if you were to do the pull in conjunction with the hanging, I think this has helped me get much stronger.

Yes, they would. But you'll also burn your joints out faster from doing pullups on a fixed spot. If you want to do pullups combined w\ deadhangs I would reccomend rock rings.

Also Arete, You can seriously damage your tendons by doing pull-ups on mega crimps if you're not careful or just push too hard. Dead hangs serve the same purpose (stengthening your fingers) without as much risk of injury. Mick

i have a base ment that i has a steel I beem that runs the leight of the basement. i start at one end and hand then slowly walk my way down it. with my feet above the ground. not hard i am kinda short. this seems to help me out very much. when i started i did nto have the streght to hang form a door jamb. i also have used 2x4s ou tin my gradge. yea and if you can even hold your self up start with like A foot on a chair or somthing to relive some weight.
