I just discovered that Dr. Piton has posted the article on him that was featured in Gripped magazine. The article can be found here. Congrads Pete!

Yes, and my lieyers are about to attack Gripped's lieyers because they have used MY photograph without compensation or even attribution. Those Hosers are going to find out why America is known as the Cradle of Litigation.

Tom, that's a bummer. Well taken picture though. How'd they get a hold of it in the first place?

The original writer of this article contacted me this morning. The article was not complete and asked to have it taken down. I am trying to get a complete version and we will repost the article with her permission. Sorry folks and to Pete

LOL  Gripped prints my photo, which I allowed on the condition I get credit for it, with no attribution. Then, they get sore when someone reprints their article.

I, uh, left out a little line Sam wrote about a certain ex-someone-or-other. However, if and when it gets put back up, everyone will no doubt be dying to read it. Sheesh.

I have to say that it is SO FUNNY that the writer mentions Pete calling her and two other women in her office "hon"! That is SO MILD compared to Pete's typical "interactions" with women! Anyway, that article told such a small portion of the story of Pete. Too bad my tendon is totally trashed again and typing either hurts (if I use the finger) or is terribly slow (without it) or I would write my own article!!! And Pete, don't you think it is totally demeaning to Wee Wee to make him act as if he "belongs" in the city-world by clipping him on a briefcase? I would never do that to Stewart! hgb

I just realized that we, you and I Pete, may be pictured in the same magazine... Seems that the Access Committee Southern Ontario used this picture for their upcoming Climber's Earth Day Clean-Up. It appears in the 04/05.2003 edition of Gripped (the one with Alex Huber soloing on the cover), so I would assume that it appears in a few previous editions to draw attention to their Event. Karen's happy, since her name apears as the photo credit.

The link to the article at the top of this post is incorrect. I believe the link was changed after we sorted out our minor copyright concerns as you read above. You can click here to read Gripped Magazine's Interview of Dr. Piton. I was delighted to see in Gripped 06/07.2003 the following letter to the editor by none other than Wee-Wee the Big Wall Crab, RC.com's resident Climbing Crustacean: Peter Zabrok's Wee-Wee Crab How's it goin', eh? It's like, about that story you wrote on Pete, eh (Gripped February 2003)? Like, you're right - he is a bit of a Hoser. But there are two things you should know. The first is that technically speaking he did not actually solo all those big walls. I belayed him on most of the pitches, which should negate his ascents as "true" solos. I also changed CD's for him, and made coffee most mornings. And the second thing is that my name is not "Pee-Wee" - it is Wee-Wee. I am Wee-Wee the Big Wall Crab, and my baileywick [sic] is the Crustacean Condition. Wee-Wee the Crab, Oakville, Ontario

Perhaps Pete's next article or big wall tech-tip could be about how to properly pack a haulbag and rig the raifly before chucking it of the top of El Cap. Then we could send a special signed copy to the Park Service in order to foster stronger climber-ranger relations. The key tip is to let all your garbage absorb the impact, so it spreads all over the talus, attracting the mother and cub now inhabiting the base of the East Wall. The cub is learning very quickly that haulbags are the perfect place to rummage for used cans of tuna and coffee filters...thanks to bigwall guru's lile drop-the-haulbags-pete. Yet according to Pete the solution is simple, "If I had a gun I'd shoot the damn thing." Not to worry Pete, soon enough, thanks to folks like you, the Park Service will likely have to take care of the dirty work for you. Now...I am not saying that Pete disrespects our National Park, eh... Merely saying that (just in case you didn't get the picture), that Pete, you suck.

Dood, You need to release this anger you have inside, Its not helping you go anywhere. I can say that My chucking a few things off Elcap led to a cleaner trash free Elcap. Why? Nothing I chucked was broken into by aforementioned and observed Bears. Yet I returned to the base with an empty haulbag and pick up everything from the Nose to Surgeon General. Filled my bag and I hauled it out. My crap and everybody else's. Evrybody I know who chucks....returns. Did you leave Elcap cleaner than you found it? My name is bill and Pete is my friend.
