Ok, I went on vacation to cape cod (translation: no climbing...anywhere) and I played golf (actually I took 2 lessons). Truth be told, it wasn't so bad. I might even go so far as to say I enjoyed it. (you can't climb everyday right?) So, here is my rank of sports so far: #1 Climbing, #2 skiing, #3 kayaking, #4 Golf, #5 biking. (I think golf will move to #3 once I get some playing time...kayaking has too much repetitive motion). So what sports to you participate in and how do they rank relative to climbing?

gee, if you looked at my life, one sure wouldn't think so!!!

CLIMBING #1
Mountain Biking #2 (although in Nebraska I can honestly say . . . there isn't any)
Kayaking #3 (again in Nebraska. . . NOTHING but flat water with too may pesticides)

I used to play 9 holes once a week during the summer. Once I started climbing though, my forearms got buft, and my swing went to hell!

Used to have a lot of fun in Santa Cruz, surf in the morning, golf in the afternoon. We used to call it the 'surf and turf.' Helluva way to spend a beautiful day.

a quick history lesson from your buddy, geo:

did you know that the game of golf got its name from the first letter of the four words the first golfer ever uttered after hitting the ball?

*hits ball* " ... good ... over ... left ... [b:5d11012637]F*CK[/b:5d11012637]!"

2. mountain biking
3. swimming
4. rugby....yes, its true, the women that play rugby are in fact, not all dykes
5. golf (its a good game, relaxing, and the golf carts are most enjoyable!)

I've been playing golf on and off for about 15 years. I go back and forth on liking it...I think I enjoy it more as a fun way to spend time with my Father and step-mum.

As far as other sports I do....
#1 Climbing
#2 Hiking
#3 Golf (I still don't know if this is a sport....I think it's more of an expensive board game with a lifesized board)
#4 Trail Running

Climbing - that takes up most of my time :D

And then depending on the season...
Skiing
Biking
Golfing
Hiking
Running (although can't say I'm a big fan, but you can run anywhere and at anytime)

And when I have a chance...
Canoeing
Kayaking (just starting)
volleyball
softball
tennis
basketball
swimming

I love playing sports, but I can't say I'm great at every single one I listed. But the important thing is I have fun and try not to worry about the competitive factor. Some people get WAY too serious for my taste.

I went to the driving range once. . .not a pretty sight. Need to try that again sometime.

I guess I'm pretty active but not all that well rounded in sports. I'm a Colorado resident and I just borded for the first time last winter (only once) but I do climb up to 4 times per week, bike at lunch 2-3 times per week, aerobics 3xs per week, hike, swim (poorly) and inline skate throughout the week w/my kids as well. It's funny because the majority of the exercises/sports that I participate in (aside from kiddo activities and hiking, which I LOVE), I only do so because I like to think that in some way, I'm helping my climbing, wheter it be cardiovascularly or by stregnth training.

1. climbing
2. skiing (now that i've converted to tele, it's close to being #1 again)
3. hiking/backpacking
3. biking
4. volleyball
5. rowing/crew/outrigger canoeing

for pseudo-sports (that's what i count Golf as), i'd pick pool any day over golf---actually i suck at both but somehow i enjoy pool more.

My dedication list would look a bit different, but here's the preference list...

Climbing
Camping/Hiking/Caving
Autocross (car racing)
Crew/Rowing
Punkin Chunkin (translation for Texans: Midget Hurling)

It all depends on how you define "sport", I suppose.

Also, I played minigolf once and you're right - those of us with a preference for sports that involve physical risk badmouth the heck out of golf, but it's not really soooooo bad (except, of course, the outfits).

 Taz
