There are some good gyms around U of I, but your coming to illinois . . .theres nothing but flat lands for as far as the eye can see. There is Vertical Endevours in Warrenville, and there is a place in rockford, used to be GAR climbing, but its changing its name . . . anycase, if you need anything else, let me know! ~~Eric

there is a climbing gym in bloomington called upper limits. i haven't found time to check it out, but i've heard good things about it. i've heard that their bouldering area is pretty stout. the gym is about an hour west of champaign-urbana, i think. if anything, check out upperlimits.com. i hope i helped a little. send me an email if you want to know anything else about climbing in illinois. The climbing gym in Bloomington has an ice wall... which someone like you coming from Seatle might be familiar with. Also, in the winter Starved Rock State Park in Northern Illinois has about 18 different waterfalls which all may be led. However, the rock climbing is sparse in your area... alot of people in Chicago goto Red River Gorge in Kentucky or make the trip down to Southern Illinois for some stellar bouldering, sport climbing, and trad. Got a few multipitch in both of the locations. Check out our routes database for details. Andy
