Depends on where you plan to use them. In soft rock, use soft(er) micronuts that will deform rather than exploding the rock. In granite, use BD copper steel nuts for easier removal......and above all, get some screamers on those puppies. HB offsets are great for flared placements like pin scars, but may not fit as well in more paralell cracks. Remember, when the nut gets smaller, the surface area goes down, so you want to have as much of the nut as possible in contact with the crack for holding power. A good bet if you are using brassies RPs or BD micro nuts is to plow several into the crack and equalize them. Traddad

I have a set of DMM peenuts, HBs offsets and BD microstoppers. For an all around set for free climbing I would go with the DMM's. They work good in flared pinscars, although not at good as the HB's, and yet still work excellent in parallel cracks, better than the BD's. Plus they are quite a bit cheaper than the HB's.

Traddad is the man! I couldn't agree more, the type of pro you use is dependant on the rock you climb on. Good luck Jeff

Once again. Traddad, you the man. Couldn't of said it any simpler. For trad, my favorites are an almost full set of HB offsets to complement my BD stoppers (3-13). Every piece has it's place and use, just like every dog has it's day! [ This Message was edited by: gunked on 2002-02-04 10:44 ] [ This Message was edited by: gunked on 2002-02-04 10:45 ]
