ive been climbing for a while and i guess ive been living in a hole... since joining rc.com everyone talkes about slacklining... can anyone offer me some general info as to the whole shindig...???
...that what u get when u live in ohio i guess haha

There are a few different styles out there but in general...
Take a length of 1" webbing on average 25-60' in length and string it up between two anchors. Walk across the line. Very similar to what we all know as tightrope walking, but slacklining is a school of it's own. Different sizes of webbing can be used depending on preference and style, different heights above the ground 3' to 3,000', and different walking styles. Mainly it is all about concentration, balance, and lots of fun. See slackline.com for a more complete history of the sport. Very cool site.

I just tried it for the first time and it was fun-tremendous amount of concentration required. Question: I only did it a couple feet above the ground, is it harder when you are way up? Does it play games with your mind even though you are tethered in?

I have found to be harder the higher up the line is to answer rockbabes question. I find it harder because there is usually more slack in the line and more of a breeze (or heavy wind). These two factors combined help play tricks with your mind.
