Hello,
Im fairly new to photography, but wanting to invest in a camera i can use while i climb and will suit everything else i do. So i looked around and found this deal. Is $465 a good price for a Nikon F65 with 28-80 & 70-300 AF Nikkors?

Is there any more suitable cameras out there?

Go to the photography forum and look under "Outstanding Climbing Camera" a couple of posts down is a link to the place that sells them It is a Sigma SA-7 with 28-80 zoom and 70-300 zoom for $297 US bucks. I have had one for about two weeks and am pretty happy with it.

I tend to be heavily biased towards Nikon so I'd say you're better off with the F65 package. Check out B&H's website for good ballpark figures on all sorts of new gear: they deal in domestic as well as "grey" market merchandise so they tend to offer the best prices around.

Well... I own the F65 (same as the N65 in the USA) and it is a good camera. I am not a Nikon junkie, but I wouldn't but a Sigma body, lens maybe, but not body. So if that is the price range that you are looking in then the f65/n65 is the best camera around. Another thing to think about doing though is not getting the package (body and 3 lenses) but instead buying just the body and matching it with say a good 28-105 lens. I say this for two reasons: the 28-80 lens that comes with the camera, is a poor lens. Yes it will take some good pictures, but it does have some major limitations. Secondly when photographing Rock Climbing I don't think that you are as likely to use the zoom feature that a 70-300mm lens provides. The second point is of course contentious, but I think it is valid still. Ask at the store what they would be able to offer in lieu of the 28-80 and the 70-300. Hope this helps the camera buying!
