I seem to recall some news of an initiative to modify or change laws in order to limit the liability or landowners, thereby making them more receptive to opening their lands to climbing and possibly other recreational activities. I think this was being discussed in BC but was meant as a federal change thereby being of benefit to all provinces. I would like to get involved in this as I believe it is just such a fundamental change that is needed to deal with modern access pressures. Has anyone else heard of this and if so what have you heard. Could someone please provide some contact info for the people involved, possibly by posting if such info is public or by PM'ing me if such info is personal. I will be heading to BC very soon and would like to meet with anyone involved in this initiative with a view to learning more of this strategy. Thanks for any help.

I haven't heard anything about this, but I will ask some people who might know better.

I think this has been and continues to be explored by the Climbers Access Society of B.C. http://casbc.bivouac.com/. The website has contact names and back issues of their Access Alert newsletters, where I think the topic is discussed (sorry, can't recall in which one). Anyhow, it's a good starting point, and if you can help I'm sure they'd appreciate your interest.
