Do you have a name for any of your gear (rope, ice axe...)? I named my ice axe Merlin. I need a name for my technical ice tools as well...and maybe my rope.

I think my nuts believe they're all named God.
Perhaps it's because whenever I set one, I always say, "Please, God, hold!!" And when I fall on a piece, it's always followed up by, "Thank God!!"

I used to wonder how people got so crazy they started talking to themselves. That is until......
I climbed this First Ascent in Zion. It was a 2000 foot wall and I was climbing it solo. I spent 16 days alone, climbing this huge sandstone wall.
I think I left part of my brain somewhere on 5th pitch. It was a typical 18 hour lead, I lost it. Started talking to myself, BIG TIME!! I went as far as telling myself jokes.
I took numorous 60-70' whippers, broke a carabiner on a fall, chipped my front teeth, bloodied and bruised my eye. Yeah, it was great.
Like I said, I think I left some of my brain up there..........somewhere.
BWWWAAAAaaa,Haaaa, haaa ha, ha ,ha..HEE HEE!

i named my harness drew, because i told my friend drew i would name something after him and then i got my harness. my sister named her shoes bob and marley. and i have a monkey i bring climbing (hes not real) that i named bradly after bradly nowell from sublime.

Well as far as talking to yourself, and to inanimate objects, I am right up there with elcapbuzz. When I am placing gear, I am always saying, "Stay in there you muthaf---a!" and "Come on you sonofabitch, why did you fall out, that was the best placement I had!! (true story)" I also make myself laugh a lot and do imitations even if no one else is listening. Ever hear Ross Perot's Mom do The Alphabet on any topic you want (ask me to do it).
But besides the generic "Piggy", I don't really have any names for my gear. However, with most of my gear that I own, the first thing I said to it was, "SWEET!! BOOTY!!!"
