I got in yesterday from a great trip to nelsons rock preserve where i had the priviledge of meeting ooze, djmclimber, pornstar, erica44, jerrygarcia, captainprozac, and many more. Plus, anne was there and i think that good times are always to be had when anne is around. What a great trip!!! everything was incredible from the climbing, to the food, hospitality, etc. For those of you out east or anyone out west making a trip out east, Nelson's is a MUST on places to climb. The via ferreta is also a great way for people who don't climb, to get a little taste of what it is like to be on the rock with the exposure, views, etc. If this sounds like an ad. for Nelson's.... you're right. it's the best kind of advertising a place can get. The free kind from a very satisfied climber. Since this wasn't an "official" gathering, i thought i would post this in the community forum. Feel free everyone to post some stories, or trip reports about the great time we had. Oh, btw, sean, i climbed with anne an entire day without getting lost or any other kind of epic. amazing huh?

Phil, so glad to hear you guys had a great time. No epics or route finding problems? Hmmmm. I had one yesterday, guesse I must be the missing ingredient, heh ..."SHAFT!"... More jealous than you could know. Guesse I'll go drown my sorrows with a Dead Guy Ale or Moose Drool. Both of which are vey easy to get here. In fact they have started growing on trees down at the park. If the bottle has a mark on it, I just throw it away and get a 'good' one.

I am glad to hear you had such a good time! I am also glad to hear you are safe and well - no new near death experiences. I had a couple of firsts this weekend. I climbed my first multi-pitch. I had my first slab climbing experience. I got stuck for the first time while trying to rappel down the rock. I received my first blister from my climbing shoes. I had a really great time, and a very satisfying day of climbing.

What is nelsons like? I have road tripped to seneca 5 times from VT(about 13 hours) and love the place. Allways had so much fun in seneca that I never had the urge to check out anything else. Is there an accurate guide?

In reply to: I never had the urge to check out anything else. Is there an accurate guide? Check out the online guide Stu keeps on his website, also I think Tom has some info on his page too. What's Nelson like? It's great! Stu and his crew have done a wonderful job. I'm hoping the access issues at Champe Rock will clear-up some day and we can have the Tri-fecta (sp) of climbing experiences.

troy, i've gotta make sure i hit those boulders in october. although it really sucks i didn't get to boulder with you guys, i still had such an incredible time. anyone who gets a chance to go on a trip with these guys.. take it. they'll definately show you a good time. are you home now? sean, is that the new hybrid tree called drool pine? i hear it's springing up all over the west. amanda, good to hear you did you're first multi-pitch! i still have yet to do one. i've done all the preparations but somehow got lost on the way.
