Cosmetic Seconds on biners - Good or Bad?

I was looking on the web for some deals on quickdraws/biners and came upon a site selling cosmetic seconds of Black Diamond biners for cheap ($3-$4). I thought at first, hell yeah, I found what I need for a good price. Then I began to think "Why are they so cheap?" and read some of the descriptions. This is what I saw (all in quotes) : cosmetically blemished; full strength, ...just has minute scratchs on it; ,but meets or exceeds all UIAA standards. I was just wanted to know what other people thought, their personal experience with cosmetic seconds, and whether or not these cosmetic seconds are safe to use. What do you guys think?

Well, HERE's a very interesting story...when Black diamond was still Chouinard, some pals of mine bought 60 "cosmetic blemished' biners (lite D's) from chouinard. Then, while up on the shield on the captain, they discover that there are hairline CRACKS in the GATES. They (fortunately) made it off the wall, called chouinard, and were told to send tham all back for a replacement. Cosmetic Blemishes, indeed.

Just make sure its only cosmetic blemishes. If there is hairline cracks like stated above then dont trust them. There is some really cheap biners and quickdraws at http://www.rockempire.com They are generic and thats why they are cheap but they "surpass" all CE and UIAA standerds
