when u go to rumney
where do you camp?
Went camping the other at "j0 ann's" found that it was a rip off.... plus i got woken up at 5 in the morning by a swearing guy...
anyways... anywheres else... ?
for instance... in the states are you guys allowed to camp in parks?

There is a campground I think its Plymouth campground, its right after the animal hospital and new covered bridge (if you are coming from Plymouth). Its like a 5 - 10 minute drive from Rumney. Its like 10 dollars a night. Wouldn't hurt to make reservations. Its got bathroom, showers and all that good stuff.

There is also Baker River Campground, just 5 minutes from the crag. Pretty nice, it even has spots for camping next to the river, in summer cooling off is a must. I think it goes $20 a night, water and electricity included, but I am not sure.

Mad River here, I just got back from Rumney, AWSOME!!. As for the camping, I stayed at (2) sites, Mountain Pine? and Plymouth Sands, THEY SUCK BIG TIME!! I checked out Campton State Park, it's a little out of the way but a great place and they have a whole section for group camping. It is much better than the places I stayed.

Baker River! Thats the name of the campground I was thinking of... I thought it was only 10 bucks though... whatever it a decent place don't buy there firewood though, it not too dry and doesn't burn... at all.

I believe the Baker River Campground charges per person, so that would explain the $10/$20 discrepency. They usually have spots, unless its a busy holiday weekend or something. Of course, reservations never hurt. Its a typical setup with bathrooms, showers, water. Nothing special, but not a craphole either. You can get sites right by the river. The owners are pretty nice. They remembered me even though I had only been there one time, a couple month previous.
If you are cheap, the owner of the house right across from the Rumney parking lot will let you camp in his big yard for a couple bucks.
As mentioned, no camping at the crag, and no staying overnight in the parking lot.

the people that live in the red house across from the parking lot allow you to camp/park in their fields for a small fee and signing of a waiver form, they're really friendly and easy to deal with. I had a great time camping in the open field along the river with a short walk to a good swimming hole and directly across from the parking lot wall, it is the best place to camp around, partly because it is only used by climbers

Has anyone stayed at D Acres? Sounds interesting, especially all the food. Also, should we expect big crowds in early August?
