I always looking to be safer on the rock. What do you think the number 1 causes of accidents while sportclimbing? I would assume its either belayer not belaying correctly or knot is not tied right. What is your checklist before you climb? Mine: Check to see if I am double back on harness. Check belayer. Check my knot. Have belayer check my knot. Stick clip first bolt. Don't back clip while climbing. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Bad belayers is no doubt the number one reason for most climbing accidents, when most people are sport climbing, they fall, when they fall most belayers pull slack in or jump down, the worst thing possible, this whips the climber into the cliff usually resulting in broken ankles. if the climb is at all steep you always want to give soft catches, i.e a little jump. its amamzing when you go to a crag and see all these people that don't know how to belay a leader fall......... jack mguirk
