I’m going to be in Australia and will be climbing in the Arapiles. My question is; does a guy need a car to get around while climbing in the Arapiles or are there hostels within reasonable walking distance to the crags? Or can a guy camp at The Pines campground and still be able to walk to get food, take a shower and get supplies? I intend to be there for at least one and half months.

hey man, Mt Arapilies is a single mountain not a region. If you camp in the pines camp ground you can easily walk to all the different walls from 2minutes walk to 30mins walk. The best option is to stay at the pines camp ground. you will not NEED a car as there are usually other climbers there you can scam a lift off. The nearest town to araps is natimuk. about 8km away so you could walk but there is a bus that runs infrequently. so don't waste money on a car cause you probably wouldn't use it that often. just hitch a ride where needed. it shouldn't be a problem. when are you going to be there? steve
