Hey all, A friend and I reciently put up a climbing wall, it's pretty large in size for a home wall. Anyways, we've gotten some help from a friend with a large supply of climbing holds, and we've managed to gather prizes from various climbing companies such as prana and cliffbar. We're planning on having a small get-together / competition possibly later in October. What we were thinking of doing was setting up a grill in the afternoon, charging 5 bucks for a great lunch, and have a little competition, and prizes at the end. We'd have a slackline setup, and hopefully great weather to hang out and climb for the afternoon. We're in Prairie Village, Kansas located right next to Franklin Park. What do you guys think ? I need some feedback to see about how many we could expect. PLEASE post! tell me if you think you'd like to come and check it out! THANKS! -mike

Get some info together and bring it up to IBEX and we will post it on the board. I am sure you could get some guys to compete. I can tell you the sooner the better. Just send it attention owner. I can throw in a 5 visit puchcard to give away or some thing like that. Good luck

Realization, When you get a date set post it to this thread. There's a few of us about 2 hours north of KC who might come down for it.

You may also want to send notice to the KC climbing club. There is a group community on Yahoo. Or if you send me the info I'll make sure it gets to the right person.

Thank you all for replying, and thanks Ibex for the 5 punch offer! For now, we have prAna prizes, oodles of stickers, and a box of Cliffbar's We were going to charge 5 bucks, and throw some meat on the grill. Semi's, eat, then finals ? how's that sound ? Also we're hoping to get a slackline up and get some ethos advertisement. Also, we arn't exactly professional route setters, we have more then enough holds, but If someone would want to vaulanteer to set routes, that would be extremely helpful. I'm planning on making a flier, and giving a copy to ibex, and kccc. Still we have absolutely no idea of how many people to expect. Any more questions or comments / ideas paleeze post! Also when we get a better idea of when to do this, i'll post a date. thanks again -mike

How long did it take for you and your friend to put up the wall? It sounds like a lot of work over many weekends. Did you have help?

Hello, I am the owner of the wall. the wall is 10 feet high and about 12 feet wide. It is unable to stand multiple people climbing on it at the same time. So one person has to climb at a time. With this constraint, we do not know how best to run the comp, if anyone has any ideas to how we should set up how each person climbs, please post on this thread. Thank You. -Grant Williams

If we're going to do this most effeciently we're going to need about how many to expect, and the grades that you think your capable of climbing. Please pm me or post! Once I get this info, we can go ahead and post a date. We've also managed to get help from Nick Sigman, and Peter Simonson for route setting. Thanks for contributing! -mike

I may just contact "chimera". He's sitting in the other room! By the way, the wall is 12 feet high and 16 feet wide instead of the 10x12 as reported by Chimera. Hope you have a successful comp. Wallbuilder
