The Ben Lomond Climbing Center would like to announce this years High School Climbing Comp Series. Last year we hosted three of these events and they were a huge success with almost 100 participants from 10 different schools. This year we will be having four comps with the first one beginning on Oct. 27 from 7-10 pm. Please pre-register because space is limited. These comps are competitive with prizes like quickdraws, chalkbags, waterbottles, shirts, stickers, posters, and more (provided by Canyon Sports, Petzl, BD, and Pepsi). The goal of these comps are to help develop beginner to intermediate level climbers. Everyone of high school age is encouraged to participate but if you already boulder v10 you might not be too challenged. The PCA and ABS comps are probably better suited for you. FORMAT The comps consist of co-ed teams of three people who attempt various problems (on top-rope for safety) which vary between 5.6 and 5.11+. Points are assigned to each problem based on difficulty. The teams composite is taken to determine the winner of each comp. The best individual male and female competitor will also be awarded a prize based on their three out of four scores throughout the series. The cost is $15/team. Waivers need to be signed by participants parents/guardians. Contact: BLCC at 801-737-7274 or stop by at 2370 N HWY 89, Ogden UT or PM on this site. Make sure to let your friends or brothers/sisters who might be interested!
