The South Face has good crack climbs and is good climbing year round and you can camp anywhere in Pisgah National forest as long as you are 1000 feet off of the road. I'll be glad to meet you up there as it is only an hour and a half from my house.

This weekend is THE BEST time to climb The Nose or Sundial. The leaves should be peaking and the temps are usually great. I've climbed there in mid-October at least four times. It was always fantastic. If you're going, get moving early. The popular moderate routes get taken fast. It's worthwhile to be hiking by 8am. I usually shoot for 7:30. Anyone one looking for beta on choice camping spots, send me a PM.

yeah another month it will be way too cold to climb at the Nose area or the North Face. The camping spot I was thinking about if more than like 5 or 6 people went is about halfway up the South Face trail it goes down beside that creek or we could always camp near John's Rock which has huge campsites. Climbing at the Glass in November is not too cold if the sun is shining. If it's rainy then it's horrible ( of course rain at the Glass is horrible in any temperature ) I'd be up for something that first weekend in Nov. Slab is great when its cold, just bring a pair of wool socks to slip over your shoes at the belay stances. Been PMing tenn_dawg about trying Glass Menegarie. (some photos look awesome) Greg

the majority of the routes on the south face are from 5.6 - 5.9 so you have a great selection cchsclimber.

I will be in Brevard, NC visiting family the weekend before and the week of thanksgiving, so if anyone wanted to give it a run with me i'd be thrilled to. Also, does nearby Cedar Mountain have any good climbing? I can see it perfectly from my grandparents back deck, looks like fun! <=glen=>

If you need any advice I'm willing to help. I might be up for meeting some new climbers. I live 45 min from Looking Glass and have a Soft living room floor if anyone would like to crash. If it's too cold to aid I might be up for some free. I've climbed it all 5.9 and below at looking glass. Some of the tens too.

cch: if you're serious about the gathering you should change the subject of this thread to "looking glass gathering" with the dates next to it or something like that... i hope i can make it, if it happens (and i doubt there will be any 'warm' places to camp.... only to climb.. bring a mummy bag
