About a week ago I broke my thumb playing football. Cast is on it now, but my doctor is thinking I might need surgery on it, because the fracture is right at the joint. Is there any way to keep up upper body strength with only one good hand? chuck

1. don't believe one doctor, consult an other (better, if possible) one! 2. do that fast! 3. dont't be afraid of surgery! If I had not followed these 3 steps, i wouldn't be able to move my left wrist and I surely could not climb any more... they are doing and talking so much shit, these "doctors"!!!

DON'T BE A PUSSY. Take your cast off yourself and go climbing, your thumb isn't going to fall off or anything is it?

Yeah I agree with everyone else. Take off the stupid cast. Tape that thumb up and get on with climbing. Just make sure not to use that thumb unless it's needed.

Thanks for the input guys but I think that's just stupid. A few weeks in a cast is better than having a bad thumb for the rest of my life. I hear people complain on this site about how they broke their fingers or something when they were young and now they can barely move them. Why do you think that it's worth risking that? Anyway, I'll just stick with one-handers for now.
