Well, if you've been following the Colorado Here We Come... thread, you know that Anne and Troy are here, safe and sound. I figure that they'll have a good bit to say, but here's my part of the adventure/gathering:
Like I said before, I got to Clear Creek a bit late to discover that the group and I weren't able to get to the Catslab like was planned. They'd left word with the construction worker, though, who redirected me to Tunnel 2, and the Highwire Crag. I got there just as they were walking down the road up to the crag, so I parked, grabbed my gear and Anne's coffee and headed up behind them. Mtngeo had to go back to his truck, so he and I made the trek up together, me placing Anne's coffee on a rock, climbing up, placing it on the next rock up, climbing up, etc. (The things I'll do!) At any rate, we all got there and started tying in. Anne was the first one up and led Stone Cold Moderate, a nifty little sport .7:

Fran cranked her way up Cracker Jack, followed by me (Thanks again for the patience while I figured things out, Fran!!!!!!!).

I had to leave early to pick up my son from school and was asked if I was going to join them at Elevenmile that night. I wasn't sure, due to my son, and was told to bring him along, so after making sure people were cool with that and with letting him bring a friend or two so he wouldn't be bored hanging out with a bunch of grownups, I went home and got him and his friends, Hector and Ron, who are also on my climbing team. NOTE: When planning ANYTHING with kids, be sure to budget no less than twice the time you think it will take you. :P
We got there after dark, got the tent set up, and the boys crashed while I hung out and chatted and had a couple of beers. Around 6:00 (yeah, in the morning) I heard Geo and Kelly up and awake, tried to ignore it and got to sleep until around 7 or 8, which in my opinion, is FAR too early to be up on a weekend (especially with frost on the ground... Geo must have felt right at home!), but at any rate, the kids were up shortly thereafter and I was able to get this pic:

My son, Hector, and Ron grabbed a quick breakfast and headed off to do some bouldering while I broke down the tent (we had to go back that night due to having to give meds to my sick ferret):

After I packed up the kids, we headed over to Springer Gulch, where I let Hector lead Sunkist, a sport .7 that was his second lead. He did a great job, then I followed it and cleaned/critiqued his clips and anchor. After we finished, the boys wanted to boulder and since Anne, Troy, and I had talked about meeting up for bouldering in the afternoon, off we went. On the way, we stopped by Arch Rock and ran into Mtngeo and Reno on Hollow Flake:

Back at the campsite, I met up with Flamer (Josh) and Pornstarr (Troy); we hung out, had a beer and the kids took off for more bouldering:

We left around 6:00 that night, so I'm sure there's more to come from the others there. The kids and I had a great time... can't wait to see Pornstarr and Anne this summer!!
A big thanks to everyone who was there who made the kids feel so welcome and part of the group as well. They had a great time and went from "Your friends rock" to "Wow, our friends are crazy but they're great people." Thanks, guys!! :)

Oh! Almost forgot the comments by Hector and Ron...
As we were leaving Elevenmile by "moonlight," Hector said, "Oh, my God, I didn't need to see that." (Ironic coming from a boy who nearly lives to moon people.) Then when finding out that Anne and Kelly were around my age (All three boys thought that Kelly and Anne were in their mid-20s at the oldest): "Hey! They weren't too bad, then, for older people! Man, climber chicks rock!!" :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Annie has a hundred or so pics on her camera, and those, combined with yours, kcrags, and mine should make for an interesting photo album.
Clipping bolts, running up trad lines, camping, early morning frost, Costa Rica coffee in the French Press, Geo's pancakes, lots of beers, and good friends.... A good weekend all around.

I missed the pancakes. By the time I'd dragged my happy arse out of the tent, they'd moved on to the oatmeal course. I packed some Krusteaz Honey Wheat pancake mix, so whipped up some of my own.
That Krusteaz is some damned good stuff, if you ask me, in spite of the silly name. 8)

Anne -- Pulling Stone Cold Moderate's roof on lead and doing the Elvis leg thang. Afterwards, "Hey that seemed easy for 5.7." Welcome to the Highwire Crag rating system.
Anne -- Following me up Cheryl's Peril for a morning "warm up" climb. Welcome to the Platte, where 5.9 still means something.
Anne -- Falling twice, yes twice, on the 3 inch dirt step on the ten foot long trail approach to Elevenmile Dome. A definite candidate for "Hey, I ride the short bus."
Anne -- After flamer yells down, "Get some clothes on," Anne proceeds to give all of us on Elevenmile Dome the Mardis Gras flash. No beads, but you should have seen the rain of over-the-shoulder (aka boulder holder) spectra slings hit the road.
Anne & Pornstar -- Just kinda second hand here, but what were you actually doing in the woods to distract that fisherman so badly?
Anne, Tracy, & Kelly -- While we were two pitches up, geo and I twice received moon shots from some shapely behinds which obviously have not seen the sun in recent memory. Geo -- "Why don't you do that when we're only 2 feet away instead of 200 feet away on a climb?" The ladies -- "Duh."
Anne -- Working up the, uhm..., help me out here..., uhm..., guts to try Rocky Mountain oysters at the restaurant. I just can't figure out why she needed my hand on the back of her head to choke them down. Hmmmm.
Tracy -- Almost spewing Coke (no, not that kind) out of her nose at the restaurant from our "metro" schtick.
And finally with geo -- finishing on the exposed second pitch of the unnamed sport climb on Pine Cone Dome in the fading light of the day. The shadows were lengthening, two fishermen were casting in the stream below, the rocks across the valley were bathed in a warm late-day yellow, and we had just finished one of the best climbs I've done in months.
This is what climbing's all about.

i drove down Friday night to try and locate the place, The Riverside camp ground, And ill tell you this: 1) dont ever use maps off of the internet, 2) after driving around the 11 mile resevoir for an hour, finding the bathrooms closed for the season was almost inciteful enough for me to perform a ninja kick to open it, but that might have ruptured my bladder and thus defeating the purpose, 3) the moon behind the high clouds was great, 4) CSprings traffic isnt so bad after 0030, 5) that ill plan better next time.

C'est la vie, I have rolls of film to shoot next time, a new Bottle of Single Malt( Sorry Geo, its a good one too), and hope fully there will be another get together with weather this awesome...
It was good to meet Troy and Anne and the rest at the resturant, hopefully ill have my stuff in a pile directions wise for the next event....

let's see, funny moments ...
1. tracy sitting around the fire saturday night taking a couple of hits off my inhaler, when someons says, "tracy, dude -- don't bogart that albuterol!"
2. full moons.
3. troy, anne and kelly heading back to camp to do some bouldering ... when they could have done some real climbing instead.
4. troy standing around the fire saturday morning, drinking coffee and waiting for the "8:30 special" to come down the line.
5. checking out the contents of tracy's glove compartment.
6. the firefighter (flamer) -vs- paramedic (reno) banter all weekend.
7. todd's young'uns realization that we geriatrics DO get out and get on it.
8. anne partaking in the colorado tradition of rocky mountain oysters. "are these [i:66202e9c1c]really[/i:66202e9c1c] bull balls, y'all?"
9. saturday evening at camp, when i was changing out of my shorts and into long pants, turning around and realizing everyone had decided to turn my situation into a photo op. even funnier given that i go commando.

Why do I have to be the Metro one around here??? Just because I occasionally put goop in my hair, talk with a lisp, and have a preference foe tight pants and track lighting- it doesn't mean I'm 'METRO"!!!

Funny/memorable moments...
1. Watching everyone drive past us on the road at Clear Creek... Fran, Todd, etc.
2. Listening to the gun shots while taking a quick bathroom break on the road from Golden to 11 Mile, somewhere outside of Deckers... hard to keep from peeing on your own leg when some redneck is blasting away with his 30-06. :shock:
3. Getting mooned at 65 mph on highway C-470.
4. Listening to the kids talk about "climbing" when they really meant "bouldering."
5. Singing every "old" song I know while climbing with tracyroach.
6. Two words: Magic egg. ;)
7. Kcrag and the dog collar.
8. Gertie's crooked nose... I *swear* it was not my fault.
9. Three full moons at Pine Cone crag in 11 Mile. :o
10. Pornstar and I climbing a .10d at Clear Creek.
11. Getting a free six-pack of Fat Tire Amber ale provided by the shopkeeper for the safe return of his keys, then providing the same Fat Tire Amber Ale to the kind people from Silverton who found Kcrag's car keys (Karma: Pay it forward.)
12. Geo and I running it out on Overleaf on the 11 Mile Dome, then finding a bottle of Left Handed Brewing Company Ju-Ju Ginger at the Jeep, kindly left by our new friends from Silverton (see #11.)
13. Good times, nice rock, tasty food, cold drinks, and great friends.
