...and I don't care what y'alll say about it. Oh Sh1t did I just say y'all?

Back from W. Virginia and sitting in Phillysheese's living room smelling his wifes rad cooking.

I had the time of my LIFE this weekend! The bocce ball, the climbing, the drinking on the porche of the Gendarme, the bluegrass and the party, I am going to remember last weekend for ever. Thanks to Anne, Troy, and the host of others from Ohio and Philly for making my time in WV so cool, even if I didn't get any chili.

A WORD OF WARNING: If you come across the country to see Anne be ready for a wake up call of a different sort. That's right, after driving in at 2:30 AM and drinking til almost 4:00, I awoke friday morning at 7:30 to JOHN-by god_DENVER at 4000 decibles. Which sounds distinctly like I imagine HELL will sound. heh.

I'll post my pictures as soon as I get em' developed.

Glad you had a good time, but would you keep it down a bit!

No good climbing in WV. The state's almost flat. Better climbing in Florida, folks. On top of that, the locals are all mean, burly guys with big guns and bigger attitudes. DO NOT GO TO WEST VIRGINIA.

Thanks,

mark

and let him sleep in ;) - til the fog lifted

he awoke to the soft, sweet sounds of john denver bringing him home...

to his first glimpse of nelson...

http://www.fototime.com/...ddt=37914.4819743866

the usual suspects were there...or going to be

and the unusual ;)

rested for 3 or so hours and fed, we were off to claim pete's new sport route... a .8 warm up

sean, of course, got the honors:

and started another

which later led to an ethics conversation... :?

troy did you ask the boys???

the rain started...we were off to meet the crew at seneca for a dinner on the town...

that night we played bocce...RED TEAM RULZ!!!

RED team (red gives better head!)- anne, rachel, sean, troy and john

green team - pete, bryan, german john and brad...philly disappeared

the next morning...i think it is saturday...we got lots of sleep that night too

what a gorgeous day!!!!

and sean started it off again...

5.8 - sport warm up - diamonds are forever - east/east

http://www.fototime.com/...ddt=37915.6886203935

phil pulling down..

http://www.0friction.com/...riction_pic_3679.jpg

with the sun setting...and the most beautiful place to watch it from - spruce knob west virginia's highest mountain...we headed off to seneca rocks

http://www.fototime.com/...ddt=37914.4680217477

we showed up too late for any chili

but were greeted with pulled pork and bbq sammies and baked beans with hairband garnish

we were all really worried about the "seneca" crew...they were missing...

they HAD their headlamps!!!

and ended up saving three ppl from certain death...by bringing them down from the summit at night

those three didnt have head lights...if you know seneca you know what ima saying...

they arrived back at camp at 10 pm in time to say so-long to sean and phil

the next morning we had breakfast...
then we headed across the street to a roadside crag to do a little top-roping before heading home ourselves

Awesome pics annie!

Erik and I had great fun, despite the spooky 7 hour drive down. We were sure something was going to jump out and get us along that stretch through GW state park, or whatever its called.

Saturday we hit the south pillar...and learned what happens when you forget to hold on to your rope before throwing it.
And 007 wall, where we top roped a bit more, and then headed down to cook for the spruce knob crew.

After a round of frisbee, a howling concert by Andrew and Griff, and a discussion of whether the knobs were lying about the gas being on or not, we managed to get some hot dogs cooked, and then headed up for bouldering. And yes, my arse really is as big as it looks in that picture. :D

Sunday we hit breakfast with eric, troy, anne, dave, andrew, and fred. And then toproped at a beautiful little crag. Thats erik in the last couple pictures from the sunday crag.

The drive home was uneventful. fortunately. :D

pictures to come.

the 4U, huh?

i don't remember the road numbers, but the rockview was up the road that borders the right side (as you're looking at it) of buck harper's, about a mile or two on the right. as i recall there was a small truckstop or truck wash or something aong those lines. anyway, the view out the window (in the photo) looks veeery familiar.

there was a waitress there by the name of sarah who was hotter that the surface of the sun and had a rack bigger that john long on a big wall. of course that was back in the late eighties.

being a west-by-god-virginia filly i figure by now she's squeezed out a couple of litters and everything's gone waaaay south.

hmmmmm...yeah it's a couple miles down from harper's on the right on south 28 heading towards riverton

could be the same place...

and the waitress could be sarah's daughter 8)

Yeah, got tired of being called Jesus. Don't worry, I'm still not respectable.

Troy: Likewise man, count on me coming back out there.

Annie: I can't see your pics dude. PM me with link maybe or email them???

The rest of the story: Hit Phillies nasty steep boulder problem called "pinch one off" on Sunday. I worked it forever and finally sent. Then, yes Anne, I climbed a bridge trussle. I even whipped a couple times on it being completely burned up. Not bad considering it's all poor Phil has got close to home.

Pics are coming.

My pictures came out a little fuzzy and the scan didn't help them. Here are a few however, that were OK. I need to buy a digital camera.

nothin' better than coming home to a 37 hr. shift. damn i'm tired. i must say that i had an incredible time everyone. thanks anne and troy for everything. you guys are incredible. i'm looking forward to our next get together (NC-Troy??) even though i missed out on the bocce ball antics (we'll save that for another thread) it was great getting to see everyone again and meeting some new faces.

those pics are great everyone! are there more to come or is that the lot of them, cause i know there were a hell of a lot more taken.

Sean: so.......... Ooze Fest 'O4? i'm already making planse. Thanks for the northwest necater. it was just the thing to hold me off until december. I can't wait to hit the city of rocks with you and enjoy the one and only "moose drool" again.

Anne: thanks for the brow beating. LOL!! J/K. i had great time with you, Troy, and andrew. tell Andrew i said hi and i'm looking forward to hanging out again and throwing some frisbee.

Troy: moore's wall in the next month or two? if you ever get the itch to climb a railroad trestle, feel free to head up my way. remember, it does have a trad route so all will be good. (i'm just glad sean took a whipper on it, even though he was burnt to hell from pulling hard on some boulders.)

Everyone else: it was great meeting you all and i look forward to the next time.
