High altitude rescue teams in Peru have recovered the bodies of three Chilean mountain climbers killed Friday in an avalanche. A spokesman for the High Mountain Rescue Units said the rescuers had reached Huandoy Pass at 5,200 meters, where the bodies were located. The area is about 460 kilometers northeast of Lima. Police say the climbers were part of a student group from Chile's Biobio University. Four other members of the group survived the avalanche. The group was not far from the summit when a wall of snow slid down the mountainside and buried the three Chilean climbers. Source: VOA news
