Don't buy APS: period! I worked in a film processing lab for years and the results from APS cameras were always sub-standard mainly due to the fact that the negative is substantially smaller than 35mm film. I'd recommend a good digital over APS especially since there isn't much variety in APS so you're stuck with fewer choices for lenses and film types: I don't even think you can get B&W for APS! Anyway, think about a good 35mm SLR or a good digital rather than APS
