In the gear sales forum there is a great deals post with an address for a Colorado company. The address is wildernessexchangeunlimited.com. They have a deal on a Metolius Large Crash Pad with cosmetic blemishes for $129.95. This is a great pad. I know someone who has one and I have used it before. You won't be disappointed.

I have one of the cordless large pads and it works pretty good. I think it costs around $150 - $170. Also, the Climbing Gear Guide just came out and they have an article on crash pads. you might want to look there. -sONofSpORk

Look for thickness, straps, and if you are goin to hike with it look at weight. Look at Rock and Ice.com they have a review of a big group of crash pads. They compare them and talk about the features Trob

LoL, I usually have crags if i can find them but there isnt alot of bouldering spots. Instead of wasting my money i find old couch cushions laying around lol. Not the safest thing. I also wouldnt recommend it for social climbing because people will laugh at you hahah

cordless large delux--$175 metolius hinged--(around the same price) i think the reviews overstate the importance of a waist belt. i never use mine.

make sure that you find a pad with both open cell foam and close cell foam. You might want to check out http://www.megaspot.8m.com/ If you call them up they will sometimes have seconds. I picked up a 37-1/2" X 54" X 4" with 3" of open cell foam, and 1" of close cell foam for $70
