Drilled climbs?  (North_America: United_States: Wyoming: Western_Wy_: Wild_Iris)

I hear that some of the routes up at Wild Iris are drilled, Throwin' the Houlihan being one of them. I notice this could be a possibility, because I've noticed that some of the monos are perfectly smooth and look drilled, like on "Phony Express" on the Rode Hard Wall was the first time I noticed it, and then someone told me that some routes are drilled, and that David Graham won't climb there because of that reason. Anyone here of this?

if this is the first that you've heard of this... yes, it's true.

sorry for ruining your disillusionment.

many people at many crags the world over climb on drilled holds without realizing it. this is a form of disillusionment. many of the crags around lander have drilled holds, some done to look more realistic than others.

i read your profile. good luck on your first 13. don't give up and i'm sure you'll succeed. there's many good routes out your way to choose from.

Ouch, Low blow Photon!!! Way to bring up old dirt!!!!

Anyway Crimpman, don't write off an entire crag because some holds are drilled. I've never come off a route and didn't have some kind of fun climbing, just because a hold was drilled. Some really good routes that I have been on have had chipped footholds etc.... Like "Scorpion" in Queen Creek, Az. Eh!! Socalbolter...poke, poke!!!!!

Good luck on a 13.

Yeah I wasn't trying to insult Wild Iris. Really it's my favorite area and attend the "International Climber's Festival" every year there, and climbing on a few drilled climbs doesn't bug me at all. I was just wondering thats all.
