Pywiak mentioning Bachar doing the BY stoned got me to thinking...

OK, that's impressive. Didn't Sharma win the world cup stoned out of his gourd? Hmmm. Pretty impressive too. And high altitude mountaineers have been sustaining themselves on drug cocktails since the days of, well hell, for a long time.

Lynn Hill offered up some tasty tidbits in her autobiography for some additional SoCal HIGHlights, hehe. Some strong players down there.

Dan Osman was a red eyed warrior, know what I mean???

OK, who ss the best stoner climber of them all?

Ummm, are there any high end climbers that AREN'T stoners    ????

That's why I always laugh so hard at the "real climbers don't smoke pot!!" threads that pop up from time to time. The posters have NO clue about how this sport came about. It was friggin founded by and developed by stoners.

No doubt! I’ve heard that the idea of climbing the boulder problem midnight lightning was first conceived buy a climber stoned out of his mind on LSD. He looked up at the side of the then moss covered rock and in his hallucinogenic state of mind said. “Wow man, I think this will go!”

That would be the stoner next door. Stoner smokes his weed, your weed and your friends weed supplementing it with the occasional energy burst from cigarettes. Stoner’s beverage of choice is usually the cheapest whiskey he can find in bulk besides anything he finds in your fridge. Stoner’s culinary habits revolve around old canned goods he pulls out from a trunk underneath his bed or the shy kid across the hall who never goes to the dining hall but orders Chinese food with leftovers that sit in the hall until the stoner eats it.

Yet Stoner can climb V10, 5.13, all without training for long periods of time. All I gotta say is that stoner can f**kin’ climb. However, beware! I’ve also seen Stoner fall of off 5.8s get slapped by V funs so I think it goes both ways. Oh and the motivation is definitely a problem for Stoner the Sunday ride to the crag usually begins with, “yo I was gonna mack’ this girl at the party but than I saw my bro and we burnt one and watched a video.” I quess the point of my ramblin’ is Stoner has a little bit of the good and a little of the bad but I still think he is the best stoner climber.

I can't think of any good climbers that don't.

Last time I was in Yosemite (camp 4), Dean Potter walks up to me and asked If I had a pipe. Sadly enough I didn't, but my friend did so they went for a little walk. I was really interested why dean didn't have his own. latter I spoke with my friend who was STONED by this time and I asked why he didn't have a pipe, and he answers "he said his pipe took a big whipper. he he funny guy, because of that day I choose dean.

S. Franklin would get my vote for being the best stoner. He would do about ten bong rips, power down a burger and fries, do some more rips and then do an FA on the hardest route at the crag.

Seriously, he would out burn just about everyone by a factor of ten.

not true. the pioneers, i.e. Steck, Salathe, Robbins were pretty straight.
Warren was an alky. wasn't until the late sixties/early seventies that the Stonedmasters arrived.

I swear there was a mention in that Vertical Reality movie (or whatever it's called) on the history of Yosemite climbing that notes the contributions of pot to the development of sport.

Getting toasted while climbing sure is great, but has anyone ever tried it while tripping thier balls off? I imagine it would be pretty traumatizing. 'This crack is, SWALLOWING me! Im falling...falling forever!'

Dude, I think that's more likely when shrooming. When stoned it's like "wow, this crack is really big....I should use a number 4, no..number 5...dude do I even have a number 5 on me? Did I leave it in my car? Where did I leave my car? Wait, what am I trying to place in this crack?"

I have a tough time calling anyone the best [blank] of all time, but I think Jack Marshall is worthy. I think he cuts and styles his own hair whilst under the influence too.

"dude, you seen my scrib?"

Magic Mushroom on the Captain seems pretty stout to be on while zoomin.

Who did the FA on Stoner's Highway. That too seems stout and almost only doable when in your in the Zen.

Haven't done either yet, but Stoner's is on the list.
Guess it's time to sack up or sack up.
