The main climbing areas in Dorset are both seacliffs: Portland (sport) and Swanage (trad). Rockfax do a guide (www.rockfax.com), though it is currently out of print, a miniguide is however available to download for the most popular sport climbing areas. The climbers club also do a more comprehensive guide for the trad climbing in the area, which you can probably order online (or buy locally). A google search on 'Swanage' and 'Portland' with climbing will turn up lots of sights with more information, and pictures of this area.

Being the UK, nowhere is particularly far away, so the gritstone of the Peak district, as well as the popular climbing areas of Pembroke (South Wales), North Wales, Devon and Cornwall sea cliffs and others can all be sampled for the weekend (or in some cases, a long day trip).

www.ukclimbing.com/forums is the place to go for more information, or to find partners.

Hope this is of some use to you. Have fun!
