harnesses for highlining?

i see alot of photos of people highlining and the only form of protection to protect them from a fall is a sort of harness made from sling wrapped around their waist... i was wondering if anybody highlines with a proper climbing harness, or if someone will ever make a harness specifically for highlining? i know it's probably for more articulation, to have it just around your waist, but is it safe? anyway, if someone could tell me why it's done, alternatives etc.

thanks

I highline in my regular climbing harness. I tie in to the front as normal and then tuck my leash in with a bandana. I think if you whipped on just a swami it would be quite painful. But your first line of defense is to catch the line if you fall. leash falls are best avoided cause it's touger on the webbing and the anchors.

A swami belt should be safe; rember, people climbed with just those for decades
