I like to visualize the route before I climb and get somewhat relaxed, not really relaxed but enough to where I'm not aggressive on the climb. Mentally I like to be thinking just about the climb nothing more. It works for me.

I focus completely on the problem ahead...then there is no space in my brain for fear or other negative mental thingimibobies!

Most of the time it helps me more if I just completely zone out, quit thinking about the route. For shorter routes and problems, just hanging at the bottom on the ground, lying on my back just gazing up.
