Does anybody know the story of the transition from Diamond-C to Diamond-B? Why is Chouinard gear now BD? I've been out of the gear loop for awhile.

http://www.bdel.com/bd/orig_history.html this should answer your questions. There is a small paragraph that expalins it briefly, plus has some cool history.

the story I heard: the bird was guiding a client who forgot to double back her harness. she subsequently fell to her death. the bird had no money so the lawyers turned to chouinard equipment looking for money. ce filed for bankruptcy and was bought by someone else who moved it to salt lake and changed the name to black diamond. Google can give you some strange results. I searched for "Chouinard lawsuit" and ended up with this: In Belleville, Illinois, Rochelle Chouinard sued booking agent Patricia Neuf for $227 for failing to supply a satisfactory stripper for her husband's 50th birthday party. Chouinard said she specifically asked for a woman with at least a 40-inch chest and who would do a nurse-like act, but received what she estimated to be a 36A woman who merely did a traditional striptease. In February, a judge tossed out Chouinard's lawsuit. -dan
