How awesome was that series! Three of the best bouldering areas in the South and hundreds of psyched climbers can make for one heck of an awesome bouldering series. I can't wait till next year! On a different note did anybody think the grades at HP40 were kind of messed up? I mean The Wood originally a V7 was changed to V5! and Skywalker solid V9(I've heard) got changed to V8/V9 and many other things got changed as well! It completely screwed up what I was looking forward to doing at the comp. Other than that I thought the comps were sweet. Thanks to Chad, Jim, Adam and all the other judges and participants who put this series together. We owe it all to you guys.

Yeah, it was pretty awesome. But I totally agree, everything had been downgraded. Hammerhead went from V6 to V5, Bum Boy from V5 to V3/V4!

Yeah, many of the grades were changed, but it still made for a awsome comp. I certainly hope they already have plans to make this an anual comp. That would be great.

...the series is awesome! I hope it continues to grow. I have not been to the PBC, but this series of outdoor comps is so well run and organized. Kudos to all who make it happen. The SEC has got it together. Only thing I would like to see is move the consecutive dates up by a month. Start in Sept. if possible. Probably not likely with Hounds Ears golf course still in prime season. Bob

I think it would be great if they spaced the comps about 3 weeks apart, rather than a month. Then they could probably add one or two more venues (like Rocktown, Boat Rock or Sandrock), and still finish up about the same time in December. HP40 in December is perfect as long as the weather is cool. It really helps you stick some of those nasty slopers.

In reply to: Then they could probably add one or two more venues (like Rocktown, Boat Rock or Sandrock) There is a separate Boat Rock comp that will be held Jan 17 and one at Sandrock in March (I think). Unfortunatley, Rocktown is not an option due to its location in a WMA.

Only problem is that it would be way to hot to actually climb hard during september. i think the way they have it worked out now is great. hopefully it will be an annual event.

Anybody have the complete list of problems that have new grades? I'm headed down to HP40 for the first time this coming week.

I knew I wasn't that strong. The one V6 I had sent was Hammerhead (I thought it was soft since I did it) and the one V5 I did (Bumboy) both got downgraded. The problem I tried and didn't even get close on got upgraded to V5 (Man with the Slow Hand) so that makes me feel a little better. I'd also like to know the new grades if anyone has it. Also send it Dr.Topo so it can be updated. All in all I think the changes are good since it's more accurate.
