Jamestown Crag is about 15 min from Batesville on top of Jamestown Mountain in the Jamestown Wildlife Managment area. Currently, there are about 35-40 routes with more going up all the time. Some people also know this as Cherokee Crag because some of it is on a place known as Cherokee Lease Lands which is basically a wildlife mamagment area. There is an east and west climbing area here, but stay on the east. Most of the west side is private property and the east has the 35-40 developed routes. A very small part of the west side is on public ground sporting a few routes that aren't the greatest. There is also a place some people know as the Catacombs bouldering area by the west side. Avoid this area like the plauge! It is all private property(hunting club) and the owners are NOT climber friendly. If you want to take the chance and argue with the redneck and his shotgun, be my guest. There is an online guide book for these areas, but not all of the routes are in the book, route names have been changed and private property is listed as public. Save yourself the money/misinformation and PM me if you want a basic list of the routes. I am glad to help out. Overall, it's a pretty good place to climb. The bolting is done correctly and is as safe as possible. The routes are about a 50/50 split between trad and sport with cold-shut anchors sitting atop all but a few of them and tons of toprope also available. If you have a pad, you can find some spots here and there to boulder, but it's mostly roped climbing. If you stumble onto one of the locals they are very friendly (myself included) and are willing to show folks around.
