So, what do you people know about Blue Mounds State Park. I know there is climbing there, and there is a guide book for it, but is it worth the trip? Anything I should be aware of before going there? Most people I know have heard of it, and would like to go there, but have not had the chance yet.

I've been there twice and I plan on going a lot more this summer. speaking of summer, its hot there in the summer, there is poisoon ivy everywhere and lots of bugs. Its worth the trip for sure but you should probaply get a guide book. most of the cliffs arent real high, I'd say 40 - 50', its quartzite like Devils lake and the ratings are stiff. Its all trad or top rope, you wont find any bolts or chains there. Its never crowded there, the people in Lavern MN. dont seem to climb and the prarie walls area is the best area in my opinion. I have posted pictures in the Minnesota section of the routes data base here on rc.com. When you want to go just drop me a line if you want someone to show you around there. Les
