Hey!
I was just wondering if there are any slacklining girls out there?! Any good suggestions for tightening a line by myself? I am not particularly burly, about 5'4", 120.
Ta-ta!

Read some on the myriad of threads in this forum about setting up lines, thay all explain how to gain mecanical advantages to get it tight.

Using a 3:1 advantage will get you 300 lbs of pull with only 100 lbs of effort.

Or you might want to check notforclimbing.com for some ideas.

Word to what Adam said. I'm budding, but 3:1 is a beautiful thing. Building a slackline is pretty easy.

I don't see what the difference it makes.

I think you are up to something.

I've taught a few dozen females (I hate using the term girls when it ranges from 7-70's that I've personally taught) to slackline on campus and climbing at the gym and I've sold a lot of kits to females so I know they are out there.

Your best bet is a good mechanical advantage setup, which there are lots of setups to achieve enough advantage to make strength not an issue when setting up a line. Solutions range from simple ratcheting mechanisims (like our kits) to very high end pulley/ascender setups depending on what you want to spend and what gear you already have at your disposal.

There are LOT of threads here on different mechanical advantage setups so browsing the threads is a really good place to start.

They get a little "simpler", as most I know just use two biners and webbing to gain a 3:1 and finish with a mule knot... Just as I'm sure that you did when you started.

http://slackline.com is another outstanding one, and they've been around for a few years.

If I can't get it tight enough by myself... I usually ask my dad! But I've always tried to get it reaaaaally tight.. maybe too tight, I'm not sure..
