The famous norwegian climber Arne Nęss (age 66) died today in an climbing accident in Franschoek mountains in the South Africa. Nęss summited Everest on April 29, 1985 via the standard South East Ridge route as leader of a Norwegian expedition. His also well known as one of the pioneers in norwegian climbing history. Some of you might know him for his marriage to soul diva Diana Ross. They divorced in 1999. Nęss left 7 children and a wife behind. The youngest not more than 10 months old. Details on the accident are not known yet, but I'll post them here as soon as I know more. Rest In Peace

It seems like he rappelled of an anchor made out of a single cam. As he rappelled down the cam came lose from the rock and he fell 25 meters to his death. He was found at the bottom of the cliff still attached to the rope and with a single cam on the rope.
