Me and some of my buds are checking out a trip during spring break ( middle of March ) that would involve us road tripping to California from Montana. We could use some tips on possible climbing places along the way. We have a lot of time to kill and any advice would help. Thanks

If you take the high road you can hit Sinks Canyon in WY, City of Rocks in ID and Smith Rock in OR, before dropping due south to Castle Crags, then continue downward bound to Yosemite.

If you drop straight south you can hit up Sinks in WY, then the towers outside Grand Junction, then to the Moab area where there's more rock than you can shake a stick at. West on 70/50, boulder at Ibex (as it's only 2 miles off the highway), maybe stopover in Ely, NV if you want to search out some obscure stuff, drop down to Red Rocks, then up to Bishop...oh God, I'm just going to stop now.

Have fun!

Nate

yo don't miss the city of rocks in idaho along with castle rocks now barely open. then head through utah and hit the cottenwoods, american fork canyon, maple canyon, then on to red rocks nevada. then depending on where in cali. you head for you got mormon rocks, yosim, joshua, and many others. there are so many ways to go but i surely wouldn't miss the city of rocks, idaho. probably even hit derkies lake in twin falls, idaho. they have the steepest 5.10 in the nation!! enjoy!!!!

Well, for spring break (mid march) I think city of rocks will probably be a little chilly. (I've only climbed there in the summer, so I don't know...)
