How does Sympatex compare with XCR? I am specifically looking at a pair of WildThingsGear Bibs, anyone have any experience with these? Tommy

After owning a few thousand pieces of shell gear I can say the material itself really doesn't matter a whole lot. Unless you're climbing a lot of abrasive rock in your shell gear, go for the lightest stuff that fits you the best. Wild Things makes great stuff. I'm sure the bibs are nice. Folks that swear by one fabric or another haven't worn enough to know squat.... Breathability tests in the lab also don't mean squat. FWIW the Marmot Precip jacket and full-zip pants are light(both will weigh a little over a pound), cheap, and fit pretty nicely too. -Fear

Depending on where you live, just go softshell. I only use softshell outerwear in the winter, including ice climbing and skiing.
